About Alvin de Levie

I am a lifelong Penn Stater. I was born in Centre County, went to the State College High School, graduating Penn State in 1973 and Villanova Law School in 1976. My Dad was a professor and founder of the Foreign Studies Programs. My Mom worked in the language lab in Sparks Building. 

The traditions of Penn State run deep within me. I grew up near Coach Paterno. I was a bat-boy for Coach Medlar’s baseball team, was taught gymnastics by Coach Wettstone, and soccer by Coach Jeffries. I recently moved back to State College. I published the first all-inclusive scholarship guide for Penn State students. I was a member of the Undergraduate Student Government and chairman of a USG academic committee. I was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Skull & Bones, and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies.

I am a supporter of the Paterno Family Run and THON. I have mentored Penn State students since I graduated. As a volunteer, I have helped and advised faculty, staff and coaches at the main campus and throughout the branch campuses. I have advised our athletic coaches.

I want to serve the Alumni, students, and those who will attend Penn State in the future. I feel called to use my determination and skills to preserve my father’s vision that Penn State remain an affordable world-class university. I want to use my Penn State education for the betterment of Penn State and to confirm its Land Grant mission.
